đź§Our Story & Contact
At Hraukvin Business Advisory, we believe that history shapes identity - and honoring it is essential to building a meaningful future. Our name, Hraukvin, is rooted in the Old Norse word for Røyken, a scenic municipality in Eastern Norway where our founder and Managing Director, Knut Stoyl, was born and raised. The name translates to “Peaks and Valleys,” reflecting the region’s dramatic terrain. It also refers to “Cone-shaped pile,” inspired by the traditional practice of stacking peat for fuel - an echo of resourcefulness and resilience that continues to guide our values today.
Knut’s journey to New Zealand began during his service with the United Nations in Somalia in the early 1990s. There, he forged a strong connection with the Kiwi logistics and supply platoon, drawn to their culture, camaraderie, and practical spirit. That bond led him to relocate to New Zealand in 1999, where he has since held senior roles in operations, procurement, and commercial management. He is a proud Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply.
Since founding Hraukvin Business Advisory in 2016, Knut has focused on delivering high-level consultancy services to the New Zealand private and public sector, specializing in complex procurement strategy and execution. His work is grounded in a deep respect for sustainability, cultural integrity, and historical context.
Knut often says, “No one should interfere with another’s culture.” This philosophy informs every aspect of our approach - from stakeholder engagement to policy design. It’s also why conversations at Hraukvin often turn to food and drink, where culture and identity meet. We’re proud to see Aotearoa’s food and beverage sector thriving on the global stage.
Hraukvin Business Advisory is headquartered in Wellington, New Zealand.
